Johnny Franco, MD

Dr. Franco is a graduate of Beloit College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. His passion for medicine led him to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree, marking the beginning of his journey in the world of healthcare.

During his residency in Plastic Surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Franco demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership, serving as chief resident from 2010 to 2011.

In pursuit of excellence and continuous learning, Dr. Franco embarked on a journey of international training. In 2011, he completed additional training at Chan Gung Hospital in Taiwan, where he focused on microsurgery, particularly in the context of cancer reconstruction. Following this, he pursued a fellowship at Gent University Hospital in Belgium, specializing in breast reconstruction and fat transfer techniques. These experiences enriched his skills and expanded his global perspective on plastic surgery.

Dr. Franco’s commitment to education extends to his current role as Clinical Faculty at The University of Texas Dell Medical School. Additionally, he plays a pivotal role as a reviewer for renowned publications like the Aesthetic Journal and Annals of Plastic Surgery, where he evaluates articles submitted by plastic surgeons worldwide for publication.

As a testament to his leadership and influence in the plastic surgery community, Dr. Franco currently serves as the president of the Austin Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He is an active member of esteemed professional organizations, including the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.

Dr. Franco’s expertise has garnered recognition in various media outlets, including magazines like Miami Shoot, Miami Herald, Med Aesthetics, and HuffPost. His depth of knowledge and insights into aesthetic surgery have made him a sought-after expert in the field.

In the digital age, Dr. Franco is a pioneer in sharing knowledge and insights through his hit podcast, “Plastic Surgery Untold.” He also contributes to the growth of the industry by serving as a national trainer for industry leaders such as Revelle Aesthetics, Apex Medical, Bioaesthetics, and Dominion Aesthetics. Dr. Franco’s commitment to education is further demonstrated by his role as a host and instructor for courses at prominent annual meetings of organizations like ASAPS, ASPS, and TSPS.

Dr. Franco is on the advisory boards of Realself, Yes Doctor, Bioaesthetics, and Apex Medical. His involvement in these advisory boards contributes to advancing medical knowledge and innovation in the field.

Dr. Franco is also the founder of Austin Plastic Surgeon, a thriving practice that has grown from a single provider six years ago to a team of eleven providers across three offices in two cities. Austin Plastic Surgeon won Best Plastic Surgery Center in the 2023 Austin Statesman Austin Best of the Best awards, where Dr. Franco also won Best Plastic Surgeon. His dedication to patient care and quality outcomes has been instrumental in the success of this venture.
