Emily Dougherty is the Editor-in-Chief of NewBeauty, joining the brand in February 2018.
As Editor-in-Chief, Dougherty oversees NewBeauty’s editorial vision, directs and executes the creative voice of the brand and leads NewBeauty’s editorial, digital and social teams. Dougherty also works closely with NewBeauty’s business team to further expand the brand’s multi-channel development activities, including its innovative TestTube, Beauty DNA and NewBeauty Pro businesses.
Previously, Dougherty held the title of Beauty and Fitness Director at ELLE where she spent 16 years editing the beauty section, the largest of any U.S. women’s fashion magazine. Under her leadership, ELLE Beauty won more industry awards than all other fashion magazines combined. Prior to ELLE, Dougherty was Deputy Editor at NYLON where she spearheaded the brand’s redesign, which earned an ASME nomination for General Excellence. Dougherty has also held senior positions at Harper’s Bazaar and Mademoiselle.
Dougherty graduated magna cum laude from Yale University. She lives in New York City with her husband and son.
